All Elite Wrestling held it’s highly-anticipated pay-per-view event, All Out, on Saturday night. Here are the results and highlights, including the crowning of the first AEW World Champion.

Buy-In Pre-Show results

Women’s Casino Battle Royale

First five in: Nyla Rose, Leva Bates, Priscilla Kelly, Faby Apache and Salonga Royale. Rose eliminates all four before the next five opponents hit the ring.

Second five: Penelope Ford, Shazza McKenzie, Big Swole, Dr. Britt Baker and Sadie Gibbs.

Third set of five entrants: Tennille Dashwood, Ivelisse, Brandi Rhodes, Awesome Kong, Bea Priestley. Kong and Rhodes predictably have an alliance.

Final group of five: Allie, Nikole Savoy, Teal Piper, ODB and Jazz

Joker (No. 21): Mercedes Martinez (who was eliminated via Britt Baker and Bea Priestley working together despite their longstanding rivalry).

Rose, Baker and Priestley were the final three women in contention. Despite Baker and Priestley trying to team up to eliminate Rose, it was for naught. Once the two turned on each other, Baker eliminated Priestley, while Priestley held onto Baker’s arm, allowing Rose to tackle her over the top rope.

Rose will face the winner of Riho vs. Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s Championship at the debut episode of AEW on TNT on October 2.

Private Party vs. Angelico and Jack Evans

These two speedy and athletic tag teams were well-matched, with Private Party having the majority of the Sears Centre crowd’s support.

Isiah Kassidy pins Angelico following Gin and Juice (and a multitude of Poison Ranas to both Angelico and Evans), giving the win to Private Party.

Angelico and Evans then attack Private Party post-match. The crowd, displeased, called Evans and Angelico “party poopers.” This was a hot match that got the crowd engaged and ready for the main card, a smart booking decision by AEW.

Post-match, there is a promo for Wardlow, a Pittsburgh-based indie wrestler rumored for months to have AEW’s interest.

And Good Ol’ Jim Ross makes his way to the announce booth to call the All Out main card matches alongside Excalibur and Golden Boy.

SCU (Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian) vs. Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt

Yes, Chicago is the worst town that SCU has ever been to. They then talk up both the success of All In a year ago as well as the sold-out crowd in AEW’s return (debut-ish?) in Chicagoland with All Out.

Heavy, vibrating footfalls are heard throughout the arena, as Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy (on Luchasaurus’ shoulders) and Marko Stunt (here described as a “a small boy, a boy and his dinosaur” and named the Jurassic Express) come to the ring.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167953918283767808

It’s unclear how much six-man action will be part of AEW’s regular repertoire, but it’s clear these two trios each want to be the promotion’s most dominant.

Luchasaurus yet again lived up to his name, a giant, dinosaur-sized man who can high fly, diving outside of the ring to take out all three members of SCU.

https://twitter.com/AEWrestling/status/1167955194421710849

Luchasaurus is a star; the AEW crowd has absolutely fallen in love with him over the past year, opening a path to him being one of the promotion’s top names once weekly TV begins in October. How great is that?

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167956625795117062

But with SCU able to neutralize Luchasaurus, it became easy for the trio to overpower the much-smaller Jungle Boy and Stunt. SCU got the pin after two BME Meltzer Drivers.

Kenny Omega vs. PAC

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167958368880713729

Surprisingly, Kenny Omega versus PAC was chosen to be the second match of the main card. As we know, this was initially set to be Omega versus Jon Moxley, but Moxley required surgery to treat MRSA in his elbow. PAC was then announced as Moxley’s replacement.

A note: PAC weighed in at 206 pounds. The crowd, fully in support of Omega, figured things out quickly, chanting “205” at the former WWE cruiserweight, PAC.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167958621331677188

Despite not a lot of build, given the circumstances, the match still had its fair share of animosity, given PAC (as “The Bastard”) would likely hate such a fan favorite as Omega and that PAC, generally, is typically out to dole punishment even without contest. As such, the story told here makes sense.

PAC dominated early by taking to Omega outside of the ring, something that continued when the action finally returned inside it. It was all about slowing down (and keeping down) Omega for PAC.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167959749792387072

Desperation, though, paid off for Omega, putting him back in control.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167961150337638400

At one point, PAC went for the Black Arrow, but Omega rolled out of the ring. So PAC adjusted and hit Omega with a back-moonsault from the top turnbuckle, a painful-looking spot with PAC’s legs appearing to smack off of the guardrail.

https://twitter.com/ryansatin/status/1167963340896780288

Despite the pain, PAC was able to hit Omega with a 450; Omega kicked out at two.

The match built as it went on, feeling higher and higher-stakes and really making the crowd get engaged. That’s a typical occurrence in an Omega match and counts especially here given PAC’s incredible talent.

Omega connected on a Snapdragon suplex followed by a V-Trigger, but that only managed a two-count. As we know, it can often take approximately a dozen V-Triggers to put an opponent away. The two traded countered strikes before Omega hit PAC with two more V-Triggers.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167964422184194049

Omega went for One-Winged Angel, but PAC was able to counter with the Brutalizer, putting Omega to sleep in a surprise upset. With wins and losses mattering in AEW, Omega’s 0-2 mark could create for an interesting set of circumstances ahead, particularly when he and Moxley will eventually meet.

Cracker Barrel Clash: Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Joey Janela

This one didn’t take long to involve tables and a staple gun (via Jimmy Havoc), given the competitors and the no-disqualification stipulation. Eventually Havoc gets punished for this behavior by both Darby Allin and Joey Janela, who tape him to a chair, pour thumbtacks in his mouth and tape his mouth shut.

Havoc, still taped to the chair, taunts Allin; that leads to Allin to crash into Havoc from the top rope.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167967568096714765

Janela took advantage of a stunned Allin and hit him with Emerald Frosion on the ring apron. He selects — and discards — a tennis racket (ahem) before opting for a table.

The staple gun came into play again, but first Havoc grabbed a piece of paper to give Janela paper cuts. Havoc stapled Janela’s forehead, cut his mouth with the paper. Recovering, though, Janela then turned his attention to Allin, hitting him with a flipping pile driver into a table.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167968022960705536

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167968827918843904

Janela tried to dive onto Havoc on the outside, but Havoc moved out of the way, leading to Janela smacking face-first into the floor. Havoc then threw a tray of biscuits at Janela before heading up the ramp to get the actual Cracker Barrel.

Allin grabs a skateboard that has a layer of tacks on the underside and ollies it onto Janela’s back, driving tacks into him.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167969966118719489

He then grabbed the barrel to Coffin Drop onto Havoc, who was draped on the steel chairs. However: no one home.

Havoc wins with an Acid Rainmaker on Janela onto the barrel, which followed Havoc superplexing Janela into the barrel.

The Best Friends vs. The Dark Order

Next up is more tag team action, with The Best Friends versus The Dark Order, longstanding rivals. The winner of this match also will receive a first-round bye in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament, which begins in October.

The Dark Order arrive with their Creeper minions, as we know something that puts Chuck Taylor and Trent? at a numbers disadvantage. The plan early on for The Dark Order was to isolate Trent? in their corner and systematically wear him down without Taylor getting involved.

Finally, a fired-up Taylor is tagged in, ultimately taking out both Evil UNO and Storm Grayson before finally being overcome by the 2-on-1 Dark Order advantage.

Best Friends nearly got the win via Awful Waffle, but UNO broke up the pinfall, leading to a brief, effective attack by the Creepers on the outside. That sets up The Dark Order to hit Fatality on Trent? for the win.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167975840249860102

The lights went out; when they came back on, Orange Cassidy was in the ring. He hit a tope suicida (with hands in his pockets) on Dark Order and the Creepers. He and The Best Friends hugged it out and it looks like there’s a new alliance formed to help take out Dark Order.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167976641651326977

Hikaru Shida vs. Riho

The winner of this match will face Nyla Rose on October 2, with the winner being named the first AEW Women’s World Champion. Clearly, Hikaru Shida has the size and power advantage and that was on display early on, as was Riho’s experience and resilience.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167979027501420545

Like most of the matches we’ve seen so far, it’s a competitive bout. The theme of All Out at this point is “everyone we have is good.”

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167979838927515648

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167980400875950080

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167981245118078977

After a rapid-fire series of counters between both women, Riho managed to finally get the win with a quick pinning combination. This means Riho will be facing Rose. Riho has been known so far in AEW for pulling off surprise wins as an underdog. But will the much more powerful Rose — who handled most of the elimination duty in the Casino Battle Royale — knock off Riho with the quickness in October?

Shawn Spears (with Tully Blanchard) vs. Cody (with MJF)

MJF, Dallas Page and Brandi Rhodes (with Pharoah) all walk together as Cody is announced, leaving us to wonder who would be the one to accompany him to the ring. The whole crew is wearing Star Trek gear (MJF’s accessorized with his Burberry scarf, naturally). Cody picks MJF, his “best friend,” to corner for him.

Cody starts things quickly, with a tope con helo on Shawn Spears and a punch in the face for Tully Blanchard.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167984733378269184

Given the chair shot served by Spears at Fyter Fest and the wars of words since, there’s no doubt that this would get physical immediately. The two battle among the crowd. Finally, the two reach the ring and Earl Hebner calls for the bell for the match to officially start.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167985090888183808

The fight quickly went back outside of the ring, with MJF distracting Hebner enough to allow Blanchard to hit a low blow on Blanchard. Belts became involved — Cody’s weight belt, which Hebner tossed out of the ring, and Blanchard’s belt, which Spears lashed Cody with, it only resulting in Cody asking for more. And more, he got.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167987507838849025

Cody managed to connect with a Cross-Rhodes, but Blanchard distracted Hebner, preventing Cody from picking up the win. This draws the ire of MJF; he throws his scarf in Blanchard’s face and the two begin choking each other until Spears attacks MJF.

While Blanchard attacks MJF outside of the ring, Arn Anderson heads into it and hits Spears with a trademark Spinebuster. Blanchard — Anderson’s former Four Horsemen partner — can’t believe it, and he follows Anderson up the ramp, ostensibly to get an answer. After all, Horsemen hate Rhodeses.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167988550727421960

Spears attempts to bring a chair into the matter, but Cody kicks it out of his hand. It’s still in the ring, though, and Cody grabs it (Hebner warning about disqualification). He drops the chair and hits Spears with his father’s signature punches and elbows.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167989237364531200

A disaster kick with chair assist plus a Cross-Rhodes follows, and Cody picks up the win, successfully getting his revenge.

MJF comes into the ring, holding the chair — but this was just a tease, with MJF hugging and congratulating Cody, the two still very much in alliance. For now? Not everyone in AEW will be a clearly demarcated heel or face, thus allowing Cody to ally with MJF against Spears and Co. Still, MJF is nothing if not an opportunist and narcissist. Something is coming, it’s just a matter of when.

The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Bros, Escalera de la Muerte match

The “Ladder of Death” match pitting The Young Bucks against The Lucha Bros for the AAA Tag Team Championships is the penultimate match of the night and could prove to be the final meeting between these two for some time, being the sixth match they’ve had this year (Luchas lead, 3-2). Said titles are hanging above the ring, as is the norm for title matches plus ladders.

The Young Bucks are ready for a “superkick fiesta” wearing lucha-inspired bucks masks on their way to the ring. Both teams have come to lack respect for one another over the course of the feud, something displayed as the match got underway.

Think of what you know about The Bucks and the Bros, and their matches together and then add ladders and that’s what this amounted to. Thus: Speed, high flying, teamwork and a lot of risk-taking.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167992739683717120

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167993437297287169

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167993805691207682

Essentially, it’s hard to keep track of all of the absolutely, completely insane action (and this is not hyperbole; it’s just what happens when these two teams meet).

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167995406887919616

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167995692050083840

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1167997698382843904

After all that insanity, Lucha Bros manage to completely neutralize The Young Bucks to climb the ladder together to retain the AAA Tag Team Championships.

Two masked men then come to the ring to attack both The Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks; there’s little question as to who these two people may be. They remove their masks, and yes, it’s Santana and Ortiz — LAX, notable free agents, have chosen AEW.

AEW announce their next pay-per-view, Full Gear, which will take place on November 9 and hail from Baltimore, Maryland.

Chris Jericho vs. Hangman Adam Page, AEW World Championship match

Chris Jericho is desperate to salvage his career, to prove he’s still on top. Adam Page is desperate to prove that everyone’s belief in him is warranted. Hangman’s on that “cowboy s–t,” and rides a horse to the ring.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1168000479449600000

Aubrey Edwards, meanwhile, is reffing the match, making her the first woman to officiate a main event title match in pro wrestling history.

The match had a championship-bout pacing, slow but featuring big spots designed not just to win immediately but to wear down the opponent. Jericho took the upper hand in the opening minutes. The crowd, however, mostly supports Page, chanting “stupid idiot” at him.

Both men traded back and forth, resulting in closer and closer near-falls. Jericho was able to cinch in Walls of Jericho but Page was able to turn over and counter, shaking Jericho off and nailing him with a discus elbow. This busted Jericho open, much as Jericho did to Page at Fight for the Fallen. Jericho is a bloody mess.

An avalanche neck breaker seemed to put things away in Page’s favor, but Jericho managed another last-second kick out. Page then continued to attack Jericho’s bloody forehead to inflict more punishment and to further deplete Jericho’s vision.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1168006871724089347

That was followed by a buckshot lariat by Page; he then went for Deadeye, but Jericho rolled through to get Page back in Walls of Jericho. After several agonizing moments, Page managed to reach the bottom rope, forcing the break.

Page went for another buckshot lariat, but Jericho countered with a Codebreaker; another two-count. Page then connected with another lariat to Jericho’s forehead but it wasn’t enough, with Jericho countering the subsequent shooting star press. Page then finally connected with Deadeye, but it wasn’t the end, with Jericho kicking out.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1168008078945587200

A buckshot lariat connected again, but after a number of quick counters, Jericho hits Judas Effect. The first AEW World Champion is the veteran, Jericho, another vindication of his long, legendary career.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1168009120210776065

AEW hasn’t had a problem putting together compelling pay-per-view events, and All Out delivered similarly, showcasing yet again how versatile the roster is and how they are committed to a “something for everyone” pro wrestling product.

As the summer’s most highly-anticipated pro wrestling event, AEW should be thrilled with how it turned out and, most importantly, the crowd response. Nothing lagged and the crowd was never lost. It’s a great way to get fans ready for AEW’s television debut on TNT, which comes just over one month from now.
