Crystal Palace face Aston Villa at Selhurst Park on Saturday, Aug. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Crystal Palace and Aston Villa both picked up their first victory of the season last weekend. Palace defeated Manchester United 2-1, while Villa defeated Everton 2-0. On Saturday, the two clubs meet at Selhurst Park.
Palace needed a 93rd-minute goal from Patrick van Aanholt and a penalty miss from Marcus Rashord to pick up their first Premier League victory against United. Through their first three games, Palace have four points. However, Palace have scored only two goals this season. If Palace are going to remain in the middle of the table, they will have to start scoring more goals. Wilfried Zaha remains the player that drives the attack for Palace. The speedy winger is one of the best players that does not play for a top-six club. However, Zaha needs help for Palace to be successful. Jordan Ayew started and scored against United. Ayew will likely continue to start ahead of Christian Benteke if he continues to score goals. Benteke was Palace’s record signing but has failed to live up to expectations. If Benteke does play on Saturday, it will the first time he faces his former club.
Villa got an impressive win over Everton last weekend. Wesley scored his first goal of the season for Villa. The Brazilian striker was signed to replace Tammy Abraham, who led the club in scoring last season. Wesley scored 17 goals in all competitions last season with Club Brugge and will be counted on to replicate that form with Villa. Outside of Wesley and Jack Grealish, the Villians do not have many attacking options.
