Newcastle picked up their first victory of the season last weekend, shocking Tottenham 1-0. On Saturday, the Magpies welcome Watford to St. James’ Park. The Hornets are one of two teams that have not won a game and the only club in the Premier League that have not picked up a point this season.
Newcastle made Joelinton their record signing in the summer, buying the Brazilian from Hoffenheim. Joelinton scored the lone goal for Newcastle in their victory over Tottenham and will again lead the attack against Watford. While Newcastle were able to get their first victory of the season, it came at a price. Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin were subbed off with injuries and are at jeopardy of missing the game against Watford. The potential loss of Lascelles would be a huge blow to the Magpies’ defense.
Watford have lost all three of their games this season because they have conceded seven goals and have only scored once. Javi Garcia’s team will have to improve in both halves if they are going to pick up their first victory. Andre Gray scored last weekend against West Ham and will start in the front two in place of Troy Deeney, who underwent knee surgery. At the back, Watford look like a team that will struggle to defend the whole season.
