Juventus face Napoli at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
For the past eight seasons, Juventus have won the Serie A title. Over the past two seasons and three of the past four seasons, Napoli have finished to Juventus. The two teams meet on Saturday at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. While it may only be the second game of the season, the game will have implications on the title race at the end of the season.
Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri will face his former club for the first time on Saturday. In the first game of the season, Juventus defeated Parma 1-0. Giorgio Chiellini scored the lone goal against Parma. The Juventus captain started at center-back next to his longtime partner Leonardo Bonucci. The two players have formed one of the best center-back pairings in the world but the decision to leave highly regarded Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt on the bench was surprising. Juventus could start the former Ajax captain in their second game. Upfront, Juventus’ attack will run through Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar scored 21 goals last season.
Napoli defeated Fiorentina 4-3 in their opening game of the season. Lorenzo Insigne scored twice and added two assists against the Viola. The Napoli captain will look to improve on the 10 goals he scored last season as he drives the attack along the left-wing. Carlo Ancelotti’s big summer signing was Konstantinos Manolas. The Greek center-back gives Napoli one of the best center-back pairings in the world with Kalidou Koulibaly. The Donkeys are hoping that the improved back four will help Napoli finish ahead of Juventus in the table and win their first Serie A title in 30 years.
