Power ranking all 30 MLB uniforms
5. Miami Marlins
Miami is one of the flashiest and most fashion-forward cities in America, and that status may have forced the Marlins management team to take more risks than necessary with the squads uniforms over the years. The Marlins entered the league in the 1990s, so they already had one strike against them. They’ve worn teal, pinstripes, black and god knows what other colors over the years. I will give them credit for the original caps, which were awesome.
With Jeffrey Loria finally out of the picture, the Marlins were able to abandon his vision for the team as an art-deco vanity project. The hideous jerseys that Loria and Co. cooked up for the team’s move to his new stadium were tossed in the trash heap where they certainly belonged. The Marlins are going to try and function as a normal baseball team under Derek Jeter, and the new jerseys are a huge step in the right direction.
The home jerseys are flawless, with just enough flair to fit in with the nightlife of Miami. The black script pops off the clean white, with just enough color to catch the eye. There is little variation to the road jerseys, except swapping the white for a very classic baseball grey.
Miami sports jerseys have a life of there own given the city’s vibe, but these are about as perfect as they could be. The fish is still a little cartoonish, but the jerseys have enough flair to drive home the point that Miami is cooler than your city without smashing you over the head with a sledgehammer. Top notch all around.
