College football’s Week 2 schedule features two ranked matchups and a few major upsets that would shock the college football world.

Week 2 is shaping up to be much more intriguing and entertaining than a chalk-filled opening week. No. 12 Texas A&M travels to No. 1 Clemson in an afternoon game that will lead into the primetime game of No. 6 LSU visiting No. 9 Texas. The schedule is a bit lean outside of the two marquee matchups but there are still plenty of games with intrigue for fans across the country.

It’s shaping up to be a great week for the home teams.

Some notable picks include Maryland over No. 21 Syracuse, No. 9 Texas over No. 6 LSU, No. 23 Stanford over USC and No. 1 Clemson holding off No. 12 Texas A&M.

If Maryland is able to make this prediction a reality, they will join Oregon as the only ranked teams to suffer a defeat. The Ducks were the lone ranked team to lose in Week 1.

After predicting Stanford to lose to Northwestern in the opener, the Cardinal defense looked strong vs. the Wildcats. They’ll need to remain strong with backup quarterback Davis Mills in line to start. K.J. Costello is questionable after suffering a head injury vs. Northwestern. Despite the quarterback uncertainty, Stanford is the pick because USC will be playing true freshman Kedon Slovis in his first career start in the wake of the season-ending ACL injury to quarterback JT Daniels.

Texas over LSU is a game that took forever to decide. Both have great quarterbacks with solid defenses, but this could be the game where Texas finally asserts themselves as a legit championship threat.

Overall record this season: 21-2
