CFL Labor Day weekend presented some outstanding football! Now it’s time to turn the page and get ready for Week 13. Let’s take a look at the game slate from a DraftKings perspective!

Ok. Let’s dive directly into my DraftKings player selections for Week 13. I will start my player picks with the quarterback position.

Quarterback

Vernon Adams, Jr. Montreal Alouettes-$10,600

Adams Jr. is quickly becoming an outstanding fantasy quarterback. He can obtain DraftKings points for your lineup through the air and on the ground. This week, Adams Jr. draws a B.C. Lions defense that has given up passing touchdowns to opposing offenses early and often.

Let me be more specific, the Lions have given up 18 passing touchdowns this year. That is music to my ears as I pencil Adams Jr. in my DFS lineups this week. Adams Jr. is well rested as the Alouettes had a bye in week 12. I fully expect Adams Jr. to excel in this game versus the B.C. Lions.

Mike Reilly B.C. Lions- $9,200

Yes, I am aware that the Lions are 1-8 on the year. However, Mike Reilly is not the type of football player that is going to mail in the rest of the season. Reilly is still going to prepare and give his all regardless of the team’s record.

I just have a feeling that Reilly is going to play well in this game and put up some outstanding DraftKings numbers. I see a high scoring affair, where both Adams Jr. of the Alouettes and Reilly play well.

My only concern with Reilly is the offensive line for the Lions which has not protected him well all year. My hope is that coming off the bye, that the coaching staff has made appropriate adjustments to address the protection issue.

Running Back

Ka’Deem Carey Calgary Stampeders-$6,400

Carey started last week’s game and played outstanding. Carey rushed for 143 yards on 16 carries versus the Edmonton Eskimos. Calgary head coach Dave Dickenson named Carey the starter in week 12, benching Don Jackson.

I expect that the Calgary coach will continue to ride the hot hand and again start Carey in week 13. My advice is to watch the starting lineup to ensure that Carey starts. If for some reason Jackson is starting, I would recommend him as well.

Why? Well, the Edmonton Eskimos are again the opponent in week 13. Edmonton currently allows 107.7 rushing yards a game. Just get the starting running back for Calgary in your DFS lineups this week!

It also has to be said that I love Carey’s DraftKings price of $6,400. I think that his low price point allows you to have more cost flexibility with your DraftKings lineup. In my opinion, Carey has outstanding upside with a high floor with regard to DFS points in week 13.

Wide Receiver

Reggie Begelton Calgary Stampeders-$9,800

This man is playing some outstanding football for Calgary. In my opinion, Begelton is definitely in the conversation as the best wide receiver in the CFL. Why do I say that? Let me provide some facts. Begelton has 18 catches for 311 yards in his last two football games.

Furthermore, in those two games, he has five touchdowns as well! I fully expect his great play to continue in week 13. Fade him at your own risk. I also love the fact that Begelton has his Grey Cup MOP quarterback (Bo Levi Mitchell) back in the starting lineup. It certainly does not hurt to have one of the best quarterbacks in CFL history throwing you the rock.

Shaq Evans Saskatchewan Roughriders-$8,600

Evans has been the wide receiver that Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo seems to always look for in big spots. In his last two games Evans has 12 receptions. He has been extremely consistent with regard to his involvement in the Roughriders offense. I just like the look of this man’s game. I would be shocked if he did not have another great performance this week.

Defense

Toronto Argonauts-$4,000

For defense this week, I am taking a chance on the Toronto Argonauts. Let me explain why I am doing so. Well, I was impressed that the Toronto defense was able to get seven sacks in last week’s win over Hamilton.

Additionally, I like the fact that Toronto will be playing the Ottawa Redblacks in week 13. The Redblacks have struggled on offense all year. I expect Ottawa to gift wrap a few interceptions in this game. I think plugging in a cheap defense with high upside is an outstanding play in DraftKings contests.

As always, good luck!
