LSU could crack the top-3 in the Week 3 AP Top 25 poll after an impressive win over No. 9 Texas in Austin.

The 2019 college football season is two weeks in, and there’s already a feeling that things are about to get wild this year. Will the two clear favorites — Alabama and Clemson — continue to dominate on their way to a national title or will there be some balance?

Some big-time matchups made that answer a little clearer in Week 2 as Texas A&M traveled to Clemson to take on the Tigers for the second straight year, but there was little Aggie magic left this time around. Nebraska looked to prove itself versus a tough Colorado team on the road but left Boulder with a disappointing loss after building a 17-0 lead. And the game of the week, Texas versus LSU, brought with it plenty of intrigue.

There were also some underrated games such as Syracuse at Maryland and the No. 21 Orange were dismantled 63-20. Michigan hosted Army and expected to win with ease, but the Black Knights almost pulled off the upset in overtime.

Week 3 AP Top 25 Poll projection

  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. LSU
  4. Georgia
  5. Oklahoma
  6. Ohio State
  7. Notre Dame
  8. Michigan
  9. Auburn
  10. Florida
  11. Wisconsin
  12. Utah
  13. Washington*
  14. Penn State
  15. Texas
  16. Oregon
  17. UCF
  18. Michigan State
  19. Texas A&M
  20. Iowa
  21. USC
  22. Washington State
  23. Maryland
  24. Boise State
  25. Iowa State

I have Michigan dropping a spot because I don’t think AP voters will be too pleased with an overtime win against Army at home and LSU just jumping Ohio State, Oklahoma and Georgia because a win over Texas on the road was the most impressive victory of the week.

Did we rank any teams too high or too low? Is it fair to drop teams like Nebraska and Syracuse out of the Top 25? The answer to that last one is most definitely yes.

Week 3 should bring even more intriguing action for college football fans, so stay tuned.
