Top MLB DFS Pitchers

Justin Verlander – I am so excited to see Justin win the CY Young this season. Not only is he the best pitchers in the league, but at 36 years of age, he became the oldest pitcher to throw a no-hitter since the timeless wonder Randy Johnson did it back in 2004. The scary part about all of this is that Verlander is showing no signs of slowing down. I doubt we will get him at low ownership today against Seattle, but I will be locking him in regardless.

On the year, JV has a 3.19 xFIP, 35.1% K rate, 35% GB rate, and 42% HC. The Mariners will roll out plenty of lefties, and that does not bode well for their chances of winning this game. Justin has an elite 38.4% K rate against LHH, with a .174 ISO. I have talked on countless occasions about how good his fastball and slider combo is, and today he will be mowing down batters to rack up another 10 strikeout performance.

Mike Minor – On the rare occasion I write up Minor, he always has a great performance. On the year, he has a 4.32 xFIP, 24.2% K rate, 41% GB rate, and 35% HC rate. He has been rock-solid as the ace for Texas, going five or more innings in all but two games all season. This team will throw out plenty of righties, where Mike has actually been slightly better.

With a .128 ISO, 24% K rate, 40% GB rate, and 34% HC rate. Baltimore will strike out plenty, at around a 23% clip to LHP, and also hit a good amount of GB, at 44%. This is the best match-up Minor has had since the end of July, and I believe he will put up a big point total, at very low ownership.

Andrew Heaney – Heaney has seen a recent price increase, that will likely scare away most of your average players. However, to those of us who really dig into these pitchers, you will know that the price is well worth the upside he brings. Chicago has an atrocious 27% K rate to LHP, 47% GB rate, and .167 ISO. All just terrible numbers if we are being honest. Heaney will see almost all RHH, where his K rate is an elite 29.7% on the season.

Yes, there is plenty of issues with contact when the ball does get hit. With a high FB rate, and HC rate. What you have to ask yourself is, do you actually think that this White Sox team can light him up? I will save you the trouble, the answer is no. This is my “Gem of the Day” and he has one of the highest ceilings on the slate, so lock in Heaney with confidence.
