Summer dwindles away and fall television is just heating up. This part of the year is full of new and returning programs that leave little time to catch up on the summer shows we were too busy to watch.

Summertime is for beaches, vacations, being outside and grilling. But there are still so many shows to watch and catch up on. Granted, most of our summer TV is found on various streaming platforms where we can view at our own pleasure, but it’s still important to stay current on the talk and conversations.

Unfortunately, it’s just hard to sit on the couch while the sun is out and the dog is begging to go on a walk.  We all experience FOMO at some point (and pop culture is probably the biggest point of that expression), but now is the time to binge-watch a few of those shows that aired during the summer.

5. Euphoria

This may have been the summer of Zendaya as she starred in her second appearance as MJ in Spider-Man: Far From Home and also led this series Euphoria into the pop culture atmosphere. Its first episode aired on HBO on June 16 and went on for eight episodes.

Euphoria deals with a wide range of issues but focuses on high schoolers experimenting with sex, drugs, love, hate, and even trauma. Whether or not these issues are intentional is not always the case, but for many people, these aspects were first introduced in some capacity during high school. Zendaya plays Rue Bennett, a recovering drug addict, and her story is what the audience follows throughout her struggle to find where she belongs in the world. The traditional coming-of-age story is present here, but it’s paired with current world issues and how teenagers are dealing with the presence of these problems.

Another reason to go ahead and binge this one is that it’s set for a second season. The announcement came shortly after its premiere and will certainly keep up its high profile as it prepares for its future.
