4. Big Little Lies season 2

Season 2 of HBO’s Big Litte Lies premiered on June 9 to address the huge cliffhanger of season 1’s finale. The five women, some friends, and some new acquaintances spend the first season delving into their backstories and developing relationships all while dealing with everyday life. The series stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern among many others. And season 2 introduces an even bigger star: Meryl Streep. She plays Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Alexander Skarsgård’s Perry Wright, who met a fateful demise in season 1.

Big Little Lies is a huge hit with audiences and critics, but many point to Streep’s involvement in this season as a primary reason to invest. This is not to say other aspects are not enjoyable, but the acting and scenery were on full display in season 1, so adding Streep to literally anything was going to put the focus on her anyway.

As talks for a third season begin and fans weigh in, the questions have to be asked: does this show has legs to continue for more seasons, and can they up the anty each year with new talent? These women are at the top of the game for working actresses, and it’s hard to imagine obtaining more top-level stars to complement this stunning cast.

Season 2, like season 1, is only seven episodes. So getting through this show in a matter of a weekend is easily accomplishable. Even if you haven’t seen the first season, or if you’ve forgotten, you could squeeze in that season as well.
