Being the Elite episode 169 recap: What’s wrong with Kenny?
Being the Elite is a weekly YouTube series that features The Elite and their friends to build AEW’s characters and storylines. New episodes are posted every Monday.
Episode 169 of Being the Elite opens with Brandon Cutler in a locker room. Arthur teases him for cosplaying and crying. He calls him a “fruit” and a “nerd.” Trevor explains that this is common for many adults, but maybe he should put aside childish hobbies. We hear the real voice of Christopher Daniels (and see his hand) join in on making fun of him. After Cutler leaves, MJF is in the shot. They have nothing bad to say to MJF. He says he likes them and invites them to Applebee’s to “make fun of poor people.”
The Young Bucks are sitting in the floor icing up before a workout. Matt is still feeling the effects of Escalera de la Muerte match. They’re both struggling to bounce back. Last week, they touched on the locker room being terrified after the match, including Rick Knox. Their family was not thrilled with that match. They learned lessons and will likely never compete in that type of match again. With the tag team tournament coming up, they’re now trying to heal and prepare for that.
Best Friends, Orange Cassidy and Peter Avalon are eating in catering when Knox complains about the messy table is and that there are no napkins in their laps. He begins counting and the four quickly clean up before Knox gets to three.
BTE is Young Bucks-heavy this week. We now get a Bucks workout sequence. They discuss how people say that they’re the favorites to win the AEW tag team tournament. For the last decade, they’ve always been the second-best tag team. They put over Private Party, but aren’t happy when another team is called the “best tag team at the moment.” It does give them a competitive rivalry, which they like having.
JR is doing JR things and grilling in his backyard. He announces that the November 13 show will be live from Nashville. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 13 at 12 PM ET.
On #BTEMailbag, Kenny Omega appears disheveled. He doesn’t answer the question that was posed to him. He talks about how everyone is asking, “how will he beat Mox after losing to PAC?” He mumbles and is incoherent. The Bucks are watching the clip and Nick says he can’t post it and he can’t keep covering for Omega. He goes on to say Hangman won’t reply to texts. Matt says they take losses harder than most and will be fine.
The next question is for Luchasaurus. “Am I friends with Barney? No.” He said in the 90s, Jurassic Park cast real dinosaurs. Barney is a man in costume and isn’t pleased that he was teaching children. Dinos are more than bones on display; they have thoughts and feelings. That sentiment closes the show for this week.
