. Quarterback. Carolina Panthers. Jake Fromm. 9. player. 87

The Carolina Panthers had Christian McCaffrey on the field for every offensive play on Sunday, and they still could not get the job done against the Los Angeles Rams. The Panthers have a special talent in McCaffrey, who was brought in to take some of the pressure off of Cam Newton, who appears to be coming to the end of the line in Carolina.

For a while, Newton was the epitome of Superman in the NFL, winning Most Valuable Player awards, and being a constant at the Pro Bowl. However, his arm just does not look right, and it may be time for the team to consider taking a new franchise quarterback atop the first round if they are there in April.

Jake Fromm of Georgia is an NFL-ready quarterback who could step in and play right away for the Panthers. Sure, the team drafted Will Grier in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but Fromm is on another level, and those two battling it out to be the successor in Carolina would only be a positive for a franchise trending in the wrong direction.

Atlanta Falcons. Derrick Brown. 10. player. 44. . Defensive Tackle

The Atlanta Falcons had an opportunity to make a statement on Sunday, as they took on the Minnesota Vikings on the road. For the past few seasons, these two franchise have been some of the best in the NFC, as they have both been to the playoffs at least once in the past two seasons.

On Sunday, only the Vikings played well, as the Falcons showed they have a lot to go if they want to compete in the NFC South. Luckily for them, the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also lost in Week 1, so they did not lose too much ground. However, their needs are glaring entering Week 2.

Up front along the defensive line, the Falcons have talent, including Grady Jarrett, who many believe is one of the better young defensive tackles in the game. However, he needs help, and if the Falcons are picking in the top half of the 2020 NFL Draft, they may want to target an absolute bully in Auburn’s Derrick Brown.
