When you think of elite programs with dominant home-court advantages, Michigan State doesn’t usually cross the mind of casual observers. The Spartans are a sneaky blue blood program, and they have developed an excellent home court advantage at the Breslin Center.

The Breslin Center, the common name for the Jack Breslin Student Events Center, was built to replace Jenison Fieldhouse in 1989. The facility is named for famed Michigan State administrator Jack Breslin, who began pushing for a new arena for the school’s basketball program in 1969.

The Spartans have become a powerhouse at home under the stewardship of Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo, who has elevated the program to new elite heights. A very rowdy student body helps make the Breslin Center rock with chants of “Go White, Go Green” to help fire up the Spartans.

While Michigan State hasn’t been undefeated at home in over a decade, they are consistent winners at the Breslin Center. Since 2000, the Spartans have lost more than two home games only three times, a sign of how dominant they can be in East Lansing.
