EPL DFS Value Forwards/Midfielders

Neal Maupay (Burnley @ Brighton, $12) – When looking for value attackers I’m focused on finding either players with good odds to score or someone who can get me enough peripherals.  Neal Maupay has some better odds to score (+185) in this game than many goal scorers priced above him.  Now I’m not recommending prioritizing Maupay over someone mentioned above, but if you need to save some money, Maupay has a solid chance to add to his opening week goal at home this weekend.  Unfortunately, Maupay’s peripheral history isn’t good, so you really need that goal.  If he can get a goal, he should get into the upper 20s.

Che Adams (Southampton @ Sheffield United, $12) – Adams and Maupay fit into the same value category as cheap guys who solid odds to score.  Adams (+240) is tied for best odds on Southampton to net a goal.  Adams played two seasons for Sheffield United, so this is a little bit of a revenge game if you’re into that.  However, he spent the last three seasons with Birmingham City, and he was their top scorer last season with 22 goals.  Adams hasn’t scored yet in the EPL this season, and normally I tend to stay away from goal scorers until they get on the scoresheet.  However, sometimes you just need a good punt and that’s exactly what we have here with Adams.  Danny Ings ($14) is a safer play if you’re looking at some Southampton exposure, but he’ll cost you another $2.

Rodrigo (Manchester United @ Norwich, $12) – If you want to get a full Manchester City stack, you’ll need a cheap guy like Rodrigo.  In most matchups, I wouldn’t be interested in Rodrigo since he’s more of a defensive midfielder.  However, this isn’t most matchups.  Norwich gave up a ton of goals last season in the Championship and they’re already dead last in goals allowed this season.  I’m not expecting a goal from Rodrigo, but Manchester City should dominate this game allowing Rodrigo to get more involved in the attack than he normally would.  If he can create a few chances while adding in his normal defensive stats, he should be well into the upper teens which is well over his price point.

Jeffrey Schlupp (Crystal Palace @ Tottenham, $11) – After a poor first game, Schlupp has two consecutive 12+ fantasy point games.  Although he’s a midfielder, Palace regularly spend a lot of time defending and they’ll need to get it again this week on the road.  Schlupp should be able to gather enough peripherals to make it three straight 12+ point games.  He even has a solid chance of hitting the 18 point mark he did last game.  If you need that extra dollar, punt with Cheikhou Kouyate ($10) who has been in double digits in both games he’s played this year.
