UFC Fight Night Vancouver MMA DFS picks – Saturday, September 14

Welcome back to this week’s edition of FanSided UFC DFS picks for your DraftKings contests! For the last few weeks all of the cards we have had started in the early morning on the east coast and now we finally get to watch the fights at a normal time with UFC Fight Night Vancouver!

Justin Gaetje (9,000)

Let’s start by saying that Gaetje is one of the most exciting fighters on this UFC Fight Night slate. He is an absolute beast who loves to put the pressure on his opponents and not caring if he takes damage in the processes. Gaetje is only 9,000 dollars and I think that price is a little too cheap for the upside he possesses. In my opinion, he is the best play on the entire slate and for him to be in a 5 round main event puts the cherry on top.

His opponent Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is very tough but his durability is slowly fading as Tony Ferguson smashed him up by putting on the pressure. That’s why I absolutely love Gaetje as he’s going to fight with an insane pace and striking with heavy hands to always look for a finish. At 9,000 Gaetje can also score very well in a decision win but most likely that won’t happen as this fight is currently -610 to end inside the distance. All of those metrics make him the absolute best play of the slate.

Antonio Carlos Junior (9,100)

This is absolutely a safe cash play and also a play where you can win a guaranteed prize pool with his grappling upside. I absolutely love “ACJ” as he is a submission grappler who likes to take his fights to the mat and lock up a submission. That’s exactly what he needs to do to beat Uriah Hall and I believe he will have an easy time doing it. Hall is notoriously bad at giving up takedowns and putting himself in bad situations for him to either be in full mount taking punches or turning around and giving his neck for an easy rear-naked choke. This plays all too well for Antonio and I believe it will be a first-round finish with a few advances making him a fantastic play.

Glover Teixeira (7,700)

Even in his later years, Glover is still one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the world evident by him submitting his last 2 opponents. At 7,700 he was already a great play as a live underdog but now he’s actually -115 to win! In MMA DFS it’s huge to know who opened up as an underdog at the beginning of the week and to see them actually being favored later in the week shows you who the best value plays are!

I favor Glover so heavily because his only problem is actually getting the fight to the mat and he shouldn’t have a problem as his opponent only has a 47 percent takedown defense and Glover should not have a problem getting the fight to the mat. 7,700 is absolutely to cheap for someone of those metrics making Glover one of the best plays on the entire slate regardless of salary.

Chas Skelly (7,500)

My absolute favorite plays are underdog plays because well, who doesn’t love an underdog? Chas Skelly is a tough, durable veteran of the sport only losing one fight to knockout. He is a good offensive wrestler and has strong submission skills as well. His opponent is Jordan Griffin and in my opinion, he is someone who we call in the MMA world a “Can crusher” what that ultimately means is he’s been beating people who are not supposed to be fighting and essentially have no skill at all to keep it short.

On the tape I’ve seen on Griffin he’s not a great defensive wrestler giving up takedowns and letting himself get dominated on the mat. That’s where this fight has to go for Skelly to gut out the in and I think it’s a strong possibility that Skelly takes this fight to the mat and wins by submission. This makes him one of the best plays on the entire slate.
