Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Rothlisberger hasn’t emerged from the locker room for the second half after sustaining an elbow injury.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in desperation mode in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Now even more so.
After shaking his right arm repeatedly in the first half, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has stayed in the locker room for the start of the third quarter. The team has deemed it an elbow injury and his return his questionable.
With Roethlisberger on the sideline, Mason Rudolph will get the snaps. After trading Joshua Dobbs to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, Rudolph is the undisputed backup.
Roethlisberger has typically been one of the less durable quarterbacks over the past few seasons. Since the start of 2015, Roethlisberger has started all 16 regular-season games only once, doing so last year. The 37-year-old did play in 15 games the year prior as well, but he’s not a stranger to maladies.
Pittsburgh is already in a tough position in the AFC North. After being blown out on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, the Steelers are facing a tough foe for their home opener in the Seahawks, who beat the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens look to go 2-0 after hammering the Miami Dolphins a week ago. This weekend, the Ravens are beating the Arizona Cardinals handily in Charm City.
