Everyone knows you shouldn’t overreact to things that happen in Week 1 of the NFL. The same can be said for some thing that happened in Week 2.

Every week of the NFL season is a relatively small sample size when you compare it to the long, grueling 16-game season. Context is important when it comes to evaluating what happens in every game. This is particularly true early in the season. Some things that happen in Week 2 are simply a fluke.

This piece will highlight five things that happened this week that may give the appearance as becoming NFL trends, but are in fact, one-off performances from a particular team or player. Dive right in with the truth about the Bills’ 2-0 start.

5. The Bills aren’t a playoff team

Josh Allen and his team deserve a lot of credit for their 2-0 start. The quality of their wins is a big question mark though. No one proves their postseason credentials with a one-point win over the Jets followed by a solid defeat of the Giants.

Buffalo does have a shot of stretching their winning streak to three when they host the Bengals next week. Things get much more difficult for Allen and company after that. This team will really find out how good they are or aren’t when they play New England and Tennessee back-to-back in their fourth and fifth games of the campaign.

For the record, it’s possible that Sean McDermott can squeeze this team into the postseason. He’s a terrific young coach and the Bills are building their roster the right way. Their 2-0 start just happens to be soft.

Don’t criticize Buffalo for winning the games on their schedule, but their fans shouldn’t start saving their money for playoff tickets yet either. The Bills have a lot to prove before they show the world they’re ready to grab an AFC Wild Card berth.
