Each week I will be breaking down the DraftKings Showdown Slates on Monday, Thursday and Sunday night football. The DraftKings showdown slate is one of the more unique game styles that you can pick from on DraftKings.

When playing a showdown lineup you will notice that it is far different from a standard DraftKings contest. Instead of selecting a full roster of position players you have a Captain slot paired with five flex positions. The player you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic but drafting a player as the Captain will cost you more salary than using them in your flex position. The DraftKings Showdown slate will consist of the same scoring as all other contests not counting the Captain bonus.

Some numbers to keep in mind when building lineups for your showdown slates. Last season the winning lineup had a running back or wide receiver in the Captain slot 71% of the time on the largest prize pool showdown contests.

All Captain selections are major flex considerations

Captain-

Odell Beckham Jr – $17,700

With 11 targets in his debut as a Cleveland Brown, Odell Beckham Jr looks to improve upon his 7 for 71 and zero touchdown stat line. The highest-priced player on the slate will get that opportunity against a depleted Jets defense that is without several key players. While he will be one of my lower owned Captains, you can never fade OBJ in a showdown slate completely.

Le’Veon Bell – $17,400

Bell was limited all week with a shoulder injury and is currently listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s game. With Darnold out, the Jets will be seeking to get Bell even more involved than his 23 touches Week 1. The matchup is favorable as the Titans gashed the Browns in Cleveland last week making Le’Veon Bell one of the higher owned Captain choices this week.

Nick Chubb – $15,000

With C.J. Mosley and run-stuffing rookie Quinnen Williams out for the Jets, I will be targeting this Browns offense. Add in the injuries to Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell and this Browns team should be trying to protect a lead in the second half. I will be rostering Nick Chubb as my Captain more so than any other player on this slate.

Other Captain options to differentiate your lineups and give you a chance at the 250k top prize.

Robby Anderson – $10,500

One of the most explosive wide receivers in the NFL, he is simply too cheap regardless of who is his quarterback. One of the more contrarian plays will be to roster Anderson or Crowder in at Captain with Trevor Siemian at quarterback.

Browns Defense – $8,100

Well, Trevor Semian is the quarterback, making the chances for a shootout slim on Monday night football. This Browns defense can rush the passer with Myles Garrett, Sheldon Richardson, Olivier Vernon making them a HIGH RISK PLAY.
