WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (c) vs. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville
The build for this WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match only lasted for a couple of weeks and began with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville picking up a non-title win over Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, which gave them this title opportunity.
They then went into a bullying angle with Rose calling Cross ugly, which made Bliss upset, which didn’t make much sense given her history of bullying Nia Jax for all those months leading into their WrestleMania matchup last year. And honestly, how subtle has this little babyface turn for Bliss been? Teaming her with Nikki was a brilliant move by creative and I still think she ends up flipping on her at some point but this is working nicely for now.
As for the match itself, it wasn’t anything special but it was good enough. Fans weren’t expecting that this was going to be anything great, which is why they threw in the 24/7 Championship stuff in the middle of the match, which is always hilarious. They should have let Alexa win the title from R-Truth. She got a two count on him but then he just ran off and the match continued. The finish was nice as Nikki got the late tag and finished off Rose with the elevated whiplash, a move I really like.
What’s next: There’s not much more that can come out of this feud. Cross got her singles win over Rose after the bullying bit and now she and Alexa have their win back over Fire and Desire so that should be it. Bliss and Cross will now need some new challengers for the titles.
