2020 NFL mock draft: Bengals land Justin Herbert
By Brad Weiss
The Minnesota Vikings went into Green Bay and were beaten pretty soundly by the Packers, losing a key divisional game early in the season. The Vikings looked so good in Week 1 thanks to the strong running of Dalvin Cook, as Kirk Cousins had to throw the ball only ten times in a dominating victory.
In Week 2, they were picked apart by Aaron Rodgers, which is no big headline, but something to be worried about if this team wants to get back to the top of the NFC North. During the 2020 NFL Draft, they should look to add some young talent to the secondary at cornerback, and a guy like Bryce Hall from Virginia would be a steal here at No. 19 overall.
For some, Hall is the best cover cornerback in this draft class, and with the Vikings spending big money on Xavier Rhodes, and using early draft picks on this position in recent years, they may take a chance on him in April. Hall is a standout player who can come in and play opposite Rhodes for years to come, as he is a better overall cornerback than the likes of Trae Waynes and Mike Hughes.
The Cleveland Browns made easy work of a very short-handed New York Jets team on Monday night, but it still left a ton of questions as to what this team will be in 2019. The Browns came into the season as a favorite to make it all the way to the Super Bowl, but they have been very underwhelming through the first two games of the season.
When it comes to the success of the Browns, it will all come down to the right arm of Baker Mayfield, who has a looked a bit shaky in Year No. 2. Mayfield is not only throwing too many interceptions, but he is also getting hit way too much, and that could be leading to him pressing in the pocket.
The Browns need to do something to bolster this offensive line, and that could mean using their 2020 first round pick on an offensive tackle like Calvin Throckmorton. This is a guy who is responsible for protecting Justin Herbert’s blindside at Oregon, and with the Browns, he would at least slide into a starting spot on the right side of the line from Day 1.
