2020 NFL mock draft: Bengals land Justin Herbert
By Brad Weiss
The Indianapolis Colts pulled off their first victory of the Jacoby Brissett era on Sunday, beating the Tennessee Titans at home in a huge divisional game that went down to the wire. Brissett has established himself as a very capable NFL quarterback, so I do not think the Colts will deep into this deep quarterback class next April.
Instead, I like the Colts to continue to get better up front, this time using a first round pick on the defensive line. When it comes to the defensive tackles in this draft class, few could have been first round picks even in the 2019 NFL Draft, but Derrick Brown from Auburn is certainly someone who could have been.
Brown is the kind of defensive tackle you can really base your entire defensive line around, and the Colts have already done a nice job getting younger on that defensive side of the ball. With Brissett entrenched as the starting quarterback, and some solid young weapons on offense, Indianapolis should look to continue to get better on defense, especially considering they play in a very wide open AFC South.
The New Orleans Saints suffered a terrible loss this past Sunday, and it was not just on the scoreboard, where they were beaten by the Los Angeles Rams pretty handily. In fact, the big loss came in the fact that they will lose star quarterback Drew Brees for an extended period of time, and will now have to turn to Teddy Bridgewater to win games until Brees returns.
The Saints gave Bridgewater a ton of money to return to the team this offseason, so it is not like they are not in good hands with him. When it comes to Bridgewater’s weapons, he has an elite wide receiver in Michael Thomas, but the Saints should look to bring someone in to be his true No. 2 in 2020.
CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma is a fantastic wide receiver talent, and someone who has caught balls from Heisman Trophy winners over his last two years on campus. He would be a perfect compliment to Thomas in this Saints passing game, adding another offensive weapon to compliment one of the best running backs in the game in Alvin Kamara.
