Fantasy football picks: Week 3 TNF Titans vs. Jaguars

Game theory is something that I have had to really work on going into this season, and it really takes your game to the next level once you start to get the hang of it. With single-game slates, game theory is a little bit different due to the 1.5x MVP point slot. Usually, this spot is used for the most popular play on the slate, which is normally a quarterback. However, I will tell you a little secret, very rarely do chalk MVP quarterbacks win you a single game tourney.

I talked quite a bit on Monday about game theory, and how to attack these single slates. OBJ was the top performer, to nobody’s surprise, and he was in the MVP spot in plenty of lineups. I

mentioned Nick Chubb being a great pivot in the bonus spot, and he did very well himself at lower ownership. You have to be alright with taking some risk at this position if you ever want to win a GPP on a single-game slate.

Mariota and Minshew will likely be the chalk plays at the bonus, which is not shocking considering quarterbacks are always the most popular plays. I do prefer Minshew, but neither is a great MVP. Henry is my preferred cash game MVP, he had great upside and recent form. I will make a big case for playing Fournette in the bonus spot in every single format as well. I am very confident he breaks out here, it’s going to happen sooner, rather than later.

The ownership could be down in him in the bonus spot, just due to the fact that people look too much at game logs, and not enough time is spent on the real data. That snap count is going to pay off, you just have to predict when. If you really want to get weird with the MVP, go with Delanie Walker. He is the favorite target for Mariota, and if these corners shut down the receivers, he could throw to Walker more.
