Early DraftKings college football wide receiver picks September 21

Top Tier:

There are elite receivers abound on this DraftKings college football early slate, but the one I can’t live without is Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is an elite playmaker and Burrow’s favorite target. You can make a case for Marshall or Jeudy, but I see Jefferson as the most sure thing of the three.

The Auburn defense is better against the run than the pass, and A&M is going to have to air it out to win much like Oregon did. I’m not saying they’ll be successful. That’s why I’m not using the quarterback. I do think Jhamon Ausbon and Quartney Davis are both going to see a load of targets in this one.

The stock for Bryan Edwards is going up for me. Hilinski looks like a better passer than Jake Bentley already and he will only get better. Missouri’s defense is solid, but nowhere near what Alabama’s is. I can see both Hilinski and Edwards having nice games against Missouri whether the Cocks win or lose.

Middle Tier:

If I’m using an Alabama receiver, it will likely be Devonta Smith. Smith is the cheapest of the three, and he has at least five receptions in every game this year. His floor seems to be more defined than Jeudy or Ruggs.

Florida State’s Tamorrion Terry has been targeted a whopping 27 times already. The bad news is that he has only hauled in 14 of those. Don’t blame Blackman. The super-talented freshman receiver has not helped his quarterback much thus far. However, for the price and the number of targets, Terry could break out at any time when he starts converting a few more catches.

Some have soured on Van Jefferson because of the injury to Feleipe Franks. I haven’t. At least not against Tennessee. Trask showed good poise in leading the comeback in Lexington last week, and he was sill looking Jefferson’s way. I don’t know if this will be a good thing for Jefferson or not, but this is the time to jump on Jefferson while most are shying away.

If Maurice Ffrench had even a serviceable quarterback throwing to him, he would be a household name. Instead he has Kenny Pickett, who has thrown two touchdowns in three games. Ffrench is still serviceable in DraftKings college football though since it is a PPR format. Ffrench only had 43 yards receiving against Penn State, but he hauled in eight passes. That gives him a nice floor.

Bargain Shoppers:

BYU’s defense is by no means good, so I’m still high on Aaron Fuller for his price. Fuller was strong last week against Hawaii, picking up 16.5 DraftKings points at just $4,900. His price is up $600, but he’s still a bargain against BYU.

Albert Okwuegbunam is awfully cheap for how involved he is in the Missouri offense. He is one of the few guys I would play every week since his price is staying in the same area. Albert O. has double digit DraftKings points in all three games so far.

Quez Watkins took advantage of the shootout in Troy over the weekend to rack up 209 yards in his 2019 debut. Southern Miss is going to have to at least attempt to pass against Alabama. Watkins is the one they’ll be looking for, but it’s going to be tough sledding.

This Florida State secondary is still a mess. Chatarius Atwell has four touchdown receptions over the last two games, so he has cemented himself in the Louisville passing attack. Atwell may see a few less looks if Pass is under center, but I would still expect him to be a big part of the offense.
