NFL DFS: Los Angeles Rams @ Cleveland Browns

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams put a beating on the ailing Saints last week and now get to head to the dog pound to hopefully keep the momentum going. After a near-even split in carries last week, Todd Gurley saw 72.7% of the running back carries in week 2 and 4 red zone rushing attempts compared to 2 for Malcolm Brown. It’s hard to hang your hat on just a 1-week trend, but if it keeps going in this direction, Gurley could be back to a workhorse role in no time. The Browns have been gashed by Derrick Henry and Le’Veon Bell to start the season, making Gurley a viable play in all formats on a short slate.

The receiving core of Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp is arguably the most well-rounded group in football and all have massive fantasy upside. Kupp was the star last week, accumulating over 5 catches for over 100 yards on 9 targets. He won’t lead the team in targets every week and it’s also safe to assume Woods will see far more than 2 targets every week. With that said, these two are the safer cash options, while Cooks remains the big play threat (as evident by his TD last week).

Robert Woods has the best individual matchup this week against Denzel Ward, who holds an atrocious PFF grade of 45.0.

With all of these weapons at his disposal, it only seems right to peg Jared Goff as the top overall QB play on the primetime and showdown slate.

Cash Plays: Gurley, Goff, Woods, Kupp

GPP Plays: Cooks

Cleveland Browns

The Browns bounced back against the lackluster Jets last week on the back of Odell Beckham Jr., who posted a 6-161-1 line in large part thanks to an 89-yard catch and run touchdown. The Rams have only allowed the 2nd fewest fantasy points per game to opposing WRs, but this is a different breed of receiver in Beckham. He’s the top overall receiver on the short slate with the highest ceiling. With David Njoku dealing with a broken wrist, this only helps his target share, especially in the red zone.

While the Rams have been great against the pass, they’ve allowed the 5th most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs, making Nick Chubb a great play at the RB position given his domination of the backfield touches.

Baker Mayfield isn’t a bad play by any means here in a game with a relatively high over/under, but if you are choosing one quarterback in this matchup, I would lean towards Goff in cash while targeting Baker in GPPs.

Cash Plays: Beckham Jr, Chubb

GPP Plays: Mayfield
