Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (Last Week: No. 3)

Lamar Jackson continued his offensive surge against the Arizona Cardinals this past week. The so-called “running back” threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson also channeled 2018 form and ran for 120 yards on 16 attempts. Thirteen more attempts than Week 1.

Jackson will always have the ability to run until he’s older and required to adjust his game as Father Time approaches. For this season? He is as lethal as anyone in this league and the threat of both his arm and his legs is terrifying.

We saw in Week One, albeit against the NFL’s worst team, that when the offensive line can block, he can pick apart a defense. And that’s the case for most quarterbacks as long as they can get the proper blocking.

In Jackson’s case, he was inadequate last year and the improvement is crystal clear. So as long as Greg Roman can keep defenses on their heels and keep them guessing, the Ravens should be here for a while. As Jackson gets more comfortable with his skill players, the Ravens will continue to stay in contention.

A showdown with the No. 2 player on these rankings next week will be a tough test for Jackson and the Ravens. If Jackson can come out with a victory, he’ll move up.
