Tom Brady, New England Patriots (Last Week: No. 1)

76-3. That is the combined score over the first two weeks for the New England Patriots. Credit their defense for forcing turnovers. Credit Bill Belichick for creating game plans that utterly dominated both teams. Credit Brady for keeping the well-oiled machine… well-oiled.

Facing the tanking Dolphins, Brady sits atop the rankings because of the sheer domination him and his teammates have displayed the first two weeks.

Efficient in Week Two as he went 20-for-28 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown in a classic Brady quarterback sneak. Brady found his new target Antonio Brown early. Completing three passes to Brown on the first drive, later in the game, specifically the second quarter, hit Brown for a 17-yard touchdown reception.

The Patriots planned to feed Brown early in the game per a report from NESN. That’s exactly what they did. As the lead grew, there was less of a need to utilize Brown and they looked to chew up clock.

The Patriots could be looking at 7-0 before they face someone who may have a real shot at challenging them. Their next five games include the Jets twice, at the Bills and Redskins, and home against the Giants before hosting the Cleveland Browns.

As much as most may dislike the Patriots, there’s really no debating that what they’re doing is incredible. If you can bypass the fandom, and appreciate what we’re witnessing as Brady and the Patriots look like they will be en route to their ninth straight AFC Championship game.
