DraftKings NFL GPP pivots: Week 3 – truth hurts
By Dan Palyo
DraftKings NFL GPP pivots: Quarterback
Chalk: Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, Jameis Winston, Lamar Jackson
Pivots: Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen
Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are going to soak up a lot of the ownership as players who pay up at quarterback are going to be drawn to that big game between the Chiefs and Ravens.
That is going to leave Dak Prescott, who has been equally as impressive as both of them in the first two weeks, lower owned in an amazing match-up with the Dolphins terrible defense.
Playing quarterbacks in games with wide spreads is not always advisable, but I think it’s a solid contrarian move this week.
Dak has looked amazing running Kellen Moore‘s new-look offense and his ability to move the chains for this Dallas offense with the passing game has allowed the Cowboys to ease Ezekiel Elliot into the offense.
Dak looks confident out there right now and there’s no reason why he couldn’t sling it around on Sunday and toss three or more touchdowns and run in another with his legs. With Elliot being the more popular play this week and a cash game lock, I am going to pivot a lot of my GPP shares to Dak and the passing game.
You can pair Dak with Zeke and another Dallas receiver in a three-man stack, too, since Zeke is usually involved in the passing game, despite only having three catches in his first two games.
Matt Stafford makes his second appearance in my column already and it’s only week three. The Lions are an interesting team this week to target in DFS and a team that is likely to go overlooked despite the fact that their passing game is in a really good spot here against an Eagles secondary that has badly underachieved so far.
Stafford is priced higher than the cheap value quarterbacks (Kyle Allen, Mason Rudolph) and is only 100 dollars more expensive than the chalkier Jameis Winston (not going there this week, he feels like a chalk bomb to me).
The Eagles have surrendered 340 passing yards per game so far this season. Their stout run defense is going to force the Lions and Stafford to throw the ball a lot. I know he can be a boom/bust type player, but Stafford is a gamer and I think he’s got a few big performances up his sleeve this season with Sunday’s game with the Eagles being one of them.
The Philly secondary has looked confused and sloppy thus far this season and I think the Lions are going to be able to take advantage this week.
