3. Los Angeles Angels

Let’s dream of a Trout and Betts sharing an outfield for the next…decade? The Angels have down that kind of road before, with big contracts to Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and C.J. Wilson that didn’t work out. But they have to surround Trout with better talent, even with a theoretical extended window where he’ll be in the fold. An offseason overhaul won’t be easy, but some aggressive moves could be coming

The Angels have a much-improved farm system, with three top-100 prospects (via Bleacher Report’s pre-2019  rankings) and a top-five overall prospect (as ranked by MLB Pipeline) in outfielder Jo Adell. So they’ve to some prospect capital to deal from in a way they simply haven’t previously.

With the Houston Astros not going anywhere, the ceiling for the Angels in the near-term is a Wild Card berth. But even that is a step up from where they’ve been during Trout’s career, so they can and should enter the mix for Betts.

Assuming Adell is off-limits, here’s an offer Angels general manager Billy Eppler could make for Betts.
