The Texas A&M Aggies and the Auburn Tigers are set to face off as the two SEC West teams look to make an early statement in their division.
The Auburn Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies have similar goals this season. The Tigers and the Aggies are both long shots to win the SEC West, but they’re both hoping to make some chaos happen in the loaded division. A&M and Auburn are both hoping that Alabama (somehow) takes a solid step back and that they’re the team that is able to take advantage of that regression.
It’s unlikely that ‘Bama does take a notable step back this season (or really any season in the foreseeable future), but that doesn’t mean that the Aggies or the Tigers can’t find a way to make things challenging for Alabama. Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher to contend for conference and national titles. Auburn hired Gus Malzahn for the same reason.
Both of these coaches have the potential to create some stress for Nick Saban, and that makes this particular game a fairly interesting one.

Prediction
Playing at Kyle Field, when the Aggie faithful are engaged, can be difficult for any road team. The Tigers will have their work cut out for them in this game as they attempt to come out of College Station with a win.
Freshman quarterback Bo Nix led the Tigers to a huge win over Oregon to start the season, but this is his first true road test. While he was impressive against the Ducks in Arlington, it’s hard to see him replicating that same sort of success down the road in Aggieland. Kellen Mond will still need to have a solid game to lead the Aggies offense, and A&M’s defense will need to be on alert to make sure that Malzahn doesn’t shock them, but A&M should be able to get a win here.
Score: Auburn 31, Texas A&M 35
