NASCAR DFS Low-Priced Sleepers

Chris Buescher

Chris Buescher should prove to be a fantastic sleeper in this race for DFS. He has shown speed this weekend and the ability to run up front, at a price point right around 20th on DFS sites.

What do we like to look for in this range? Potential to gain place differential points. Buescher will start 23rd in this race. The 37 car topped the speed chart in first practice. Clearly he has the potential to gain a few spots.

Not only did his car show bursts of speed this weekend, but Buescher showed in April that he can run in the top ten at this race track. Despite his finish of 22nd earlier in the season at Richmond, Buescher earned stage points in both of the first two stages. A repeat performance this week would be great value where he is currently priced.

Austin Dillon

Like Buescher, Dillon isn’t starting towards the front, had a great practice run, and has run up front here in the past.

Austin Dillon was fifth-fastest in final practice. Despite the speed shown in that session, the 3 car qualified just 17th for the race. He’s also been decent the last few races with two top 12’s and a top 10.

More importantly, Dillon has finished sixth in each of the last two races at Richmond. In this race last year, Dillon earned stage points in stage two as well. In that race, he started 26th and still wound up towards the front. Fantasy players who take a chance will hope for a repeat.

Daniel Hemric

It was announced this week that after finishing this season in the 8 car, Daniel Hemric will be replaced by Matt DiBenedetto after just one year. Hemric should obviously have a chip on his shoulder after such a quick hook by Richard Childress Racing and will look to go out and prove that he deserves another Cup ride.

Hemric is priced below both Buescher and Dillon and will roll off 22nd to begin the race. After qualifying fairly well most of the year, this could be a rare opportunity for Hemric to earn some place differential points.

In first practice, Hemric posted the 15th-fastest lap and the 12th-best 10-lap average. In final practice, he flew up to third on the speed chart while dropping to 24th with his 10-lap. The 8 car has enough speed to move up some spots, and Hemric has the motivation to have a strong showing in this race after the recent news.
