Another Premier League matchday is already upon us and there’s a host of fantastic fixtures to watch this weekend. It kicks off on Friday with a south coast derby as Bournemouth travel to Southampton in what should be an entertaining game.
Norwich travel to Burnley fresh off their win over Manchester City whilst the champions look to get back to their winning ways at home to Watford. Sunday has four exciting fixtures including Manchester United’s trip to West Ham and Chelsea hosting Liverpool. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
5. Liverpool crush Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
The biggest game of the Premier League weekend sees Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. The Reds have started this season how they finished the last – in unstoppable form. That form has also propelled them to the top of the league with Manchester City falling behind after last week’s loss to Norwich.
Chelsea have already had some struggles this season but one thing the haven’t had a problem with is scoring goals. In their past three matches, the Blues have netted 10 times but they’ve also conceded six so they’ll need to be tighter at the back if they are to stand a chance in this match-up.
Both teams had disappointing losses in the Champions League this week and will be looking to redeem themselves this weekend. Liverpool were a little unfortunate to lose away to Napoli whilst Chelsea weren’t on form at home to Valencia.
Liverpool showed the form of champions last season but were unfortunate not to lift the Premier League trophy back in May. This form has carried on though and they should have too much for Chelsea no matter how confident Frank Lampard’s young guns are.
Chelsea could also be without one of their promising young stars in Mason Mount. Mount sustained an injury against Valencia and is a doubt for Sunday’s match. That could be a big blow for the London club as the young playmaker has really helped Chelsea to tick in recent matches.
Whether Chelsea are at full strength or not probably won’t matter as Liverpool will exploit the Blues’ evident defensive problems. Salah, Firmino and Mane will prove to be far too much for Lampard’s side and the trio will produce four goals between themselves.
Liverpool will score five and Chelsea will grab a couple of consolation goals in a 2-5 loss. The Reds will show the form of Champions this weekend and really lay down the gauntlet to Manchester City.
