“The Masked Bandit” made it to his second BOLA finals in a row but this time he was able to sneak away with the huge win.
Bandido has been no stranger to PWG fans over the past two years as he has quickly endeared himself to the So Cal faithful. Debuting alongside his Dragon Gate compatriot, Flamita, Bandido gained the respect of the fans right off the bat in a great match against the PWG Tag Team Champions, The Rascalz.
Bandido quickly went from one of wrestling’s best hidden secrets to one of the hottest free agents in the industry. Bandido ended up signing with Ring of Honor, which allowed him to continue working with PWG. Bandido’s first Battle of Los Angeles appearance saw him shock everyone by making it to the finals. After defeating T-Hawk, Joey Janela and Flamita, Bandido found himself in the finals where he sadly lost to the current PWG Champion, Jeff Cobb.
Many fans theorized that this year’s BOLA was going to act as a redemption story for “The Masked Bandit” as he looked to make it to the finals again. Bandido lived up to those theories as he made it to the finals once again after eliminating Puma King, Brody King and Dragon Lee.
The finals consisted of noted indie wrestler David Starr and another ROH mainstay, Jonathan Gresham. Bandido was able to right the wrongs of last year though, as he last eliminated Gresham to win the prestigious tournament. Bandido’s family came out to the ring and celebrated with him as he held up the prolific trophy for the rabid crowd to see.
Bandido now will most likely be Cobb’s next challenger for his PWG Championship as the winner of BOLA gets a title shot. Fans are already salivating at the idea of one of the best heavyweights in wrestling colliding with one of the best junior heavyweights.
