DraftKings Monday Night Football – Washington Redskins vs Chicago Bears

Each week I will be breaking down the DraftKings Showdown Slates on Monday, Thursday and Sunday night football. The DraftKings showdown slate is one of the more unique game styles that you can pick from on DraftKings.

When playing a showdown lineup you will notice that it is far different from a standard DraftKings contest. Instead of selecting a full roster of position players you have a Captain slot paired with five flex positions. The player you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic but drafting a player as the Captain will cost you more salary than using them in your flex position. The DraftKings Showdown slate will consist of the same scoring as all other contests not counting the Captain bonus.

Some numbers to keep in mind when building lineups for your showdown slates. Last season the winning lineup had a running back or wide receiver in the Captain slot 71% of the time on the largest prize pool showdown contests.

All Captain selections are major flex considerations

DraftKings Monday Night Football Week 3 GPP builds: Redskins vs Bears

Captain-

Mitch Trubisky – $15,600

The beautiful thing about fantasy football is that terrible quarterbacks might not necessarily mean they’re a terrible fantasy quarterback. Mitch Trubisky is the ringleader of this group and is in play at Captain tomorrow night. His floor is probably the lowest of any quarterback in the NFL, but he also possesses a tremendous ceiling. This makes him a must-have in a few of your Captain lineups and someone who should be paired with receivers that you put at Captain as well.

Allen Robinson – $14,700

One of my higher owned Captain allocations will go to Allen Robinson. He has averaged 10 targets a game and is the clear-cut number one pass-catcher in Chicago. This Redskins secondary can be taken advantage of as they have allowed an average of 287 yards passing. I will be using Robinson in the majority of my builds tomorrow tonight.

David Montgomery – $14,100

After easing the rookie in the first week of the season with only eight carries, Montgomery was established as the lead back last week with 18. The Bears offense should be able to move the ball against a less than stellar defensive unit in Washington. Like Robinson, I will have a 20-30% share of Montgomery in my Captain slot.

Bears Defense – $9,300

It is very rare that I will write about a defense in the Captain slot, but this unit can be downright nasty. If you add in an offensive unit that is bottom five in the league and a quarterback that is prone to turnovers, it is a defensive Captain dream scenario to scoop all the money. While I will only have 5-10% of them as my Captain, the Bears D could win you 250k.

Other Captain options to differentiate your lineups and give you a chance at the 250k top prize.

Terry “F-1” McLaurin – $12,900

While I expect Keenum to struggle against a stingy Bears defense, McLaurin is the type of burner that can easily catch a bomb to wreck a slate that doesn’t include him. I prefer to have F-1 in my flex positions, but I will have a few shares of him as my Captain. HIGH-RISK PLAY
