Daily fantasy golf: FanDuel picks – The 2019 Safeway Open
Daily fantasy golf: FanDuel PGA – Low tier picks ($9,000-$10,000)
Harold Varner III – $9,500 – (GPP)
As we move into the low tier this week, the first thing I should do is once again acknowledge and congratulate Sebastian Munoz on his impressive win, and let you know that he is once again in play here obviously. I am in the business of not giving you the same names every week as you know, and along with the obvious, there are a couple more golfers to like in this price range this week. There is no way though I would go against Munoz personally though as he has been in this article three weeks straight now.
However, although the contests are once again less than desirable as far as payout structures and sizing, I may venture back into mass multi-entry (MME) and get back to 25 lineups. If I do that, my first play in this tier after Munoz is Harold Varner III.
HV3 is really volatile as he misses more cuts than you would like to see, but he has popped fairly recently and that along with his course history here at Silverado C.C. is what has him on my radar. The 29-year-old T-3 recently at the Northern Trust in the FedEx Cup playoffs for his best finish to date as a professional on the PGA Tour, but he could not stay in a rhythm the following week at the BMW Championship, and a solo 68th place finish ended his season.
Varner has played the Safeway Open in each of the last four seasons and has not missed a cut. He has two finishes inside the top-15 in this stretch, including a T-14 last year. This will be his second action of the new season, as he T-19 at the Greenbrier two weeks ago.
