Thursday’s premiere begins with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and two of her colleagues still unemployed, having been fired in the previous finale. But it’s pretty hard to find a new job when you’ve been dismissed for insurance fraud. And if they didn’t come back, there would be a very different show. So how will they get back to the hospital?

At the same time, Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) resurfaces again after his literal disappearing act, so what’s going on with him? Where is his future headed? Everything is kind of backwards, but TV fans won’t be bothered since that’s pretty much normal for this show.
