John Morrison signs new deal to return to WWE
By Matt Black
Now listen, this ain’t no make-believe: It has been reported that John Morrison has signed a new deal to return to WWE.
In a surprising turn of events, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that John Morrison (real name John Hennigan) has signed a new contract to return to WWE. His return date to the company has not yet been announced.
After departing IMPACT Wrestling in July after their Slammiversary pay-per-view, rumors began to ramp up that the wrestler formally known as Johnny Impact would be heading to All Elite Wrestling. The fact that he even appeared on a recent episode of Being the Elite alongside his wife Taya Valkyrie fueled the speculation that we could be seeing Johnny Elite or Johnny Dynamite (whichever they chose to use) sooner rather than later once the company landed on TNT Wednesday nights in October.
Morrison signing back with WWE brings him back to the company for the first time since 2011, in which we last saw him finally closing the chapter on his rivalry with his former tag team partner, The Miz. Since that time he has had successful runs in IMPACT Wrestling as their World Champion, AAA as their Mega Champion, and Lucha Underground, holding their top title as Johnny Mundo.
What plans WWE currently has for the returning Morrison are unknown at this time but there are limitless possibilities about where he could be used, including the black and gold brand of NXT.
What do you hope to see for the returning Morrison? Are you happy about this signing for WWE? Or would have preferred to see him land elsewhere like AEW or ROH? Sound off in the comments section below and let us know what you think about this huge new signing for WWE.
