NFL DFS game by game breakdown: Week 4
By Joe Metz
NFL DFS: Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints
Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott continues his surgical onslaught of the league and heads into an extremely favorable matchup against the Saints secondary. They rank 25th in pass DVOA and have allowed an average of 32.67 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs, good for 2nd most in the league. He’s a tier below Mahomes, but it’s not by much.
Pairing him with Amari Cooper seems like a recipe for success and should come at low ownership, as Cooper continues to get snubbed in cash games. He has a 21.43% target share through the first three weeks and the highest aDOT on the team (11.2). This could be a shootout if the Saints play as effectively as they did last week and if that’s the case, load up on Cooper.
Randall Cobb and Devin Smith should continue to act as complimentary pieces, but given the amount of value at the receiver position on this slate, I don’t see a need to go here.
Ezekiel Elliott did everything except score a touchdown last week against the Dolphins, rushing for 125 yards on only 19 carries while adding 2 receptions for 14 yards. If this game remains competitive, we should see a normal workload again from Zeke against a defense that ranks 29th in rush DVOA.
Cash Plays: Prescott, Cooper, Elliott
GPP Plays: none
New Orleans Saints
The Saints did a fantastic job scheming to cover up the weaknesses of Teddy Bridgewater last week by letting Alvin Kamara go to work and shred the Seattle defense. He posted a rushing line of 16-69-1 while adding 9 receptions for 92 yards and a second TD. He led the team in targets (10) and saw a bell-cow role, as Latavius Murray saw 2 touches in the entire game. Dallas has a rather middling defense (14th in overall DVOA), but their front-7 is much less intimidating than Seattle’s. If Kamara sniffs 25 touches, he could finish as the overall RB1 this week.
Michael Thomas is the only other Saint that I would consider this week, but with Kamara soaking up the targets, he only saw 7 against the Seahawks. He was able to turn them into a 5-54-1 line, which is promising given the fact that touchdowns have been hard for him to come by in his career. He’s got a rather tough matchup with Jourdan Lewis (19th ranked CB by PFF), but his sheer involvement alone keeps him in the GPP discussion, especially on full-PPR sites.
Cash Plays: Kamara
GPP Plays: Thomas (DK)
