NFL DFS game by game breakdown: Week 4
By Joe Metz
NFL DFS: Washington Redskins @ New York Giants
Washington Redskins
Case Keenum and the Redskins offense looked downright atrocious for 95% of the game on Monday. Much of that can be contributed to the elite Bears defense, but the 0-3 Redskins could be looking at a QB shakeup sooner rather than later after Keenum’s 5 turnovers on Monday. Regardless of who starts against the Giants, there’s too much downside to consider when dubbing them viable or not.
If you want exposure to a passing attack against the Giants (31st in pass DVOA), the best bet would be Terry McLaurin. He’s recorded at least 5 catches and a touchdown in each of his first three games and logged at least 90% of the team’s snaps each game. His matchup with Janoris Jenkins (PFF grade of 37.0) is one of the most exploitable on the slate, making him viable in all formats.
Adrian Peterson was bottled up against the Bears, but could be in for a bounce-back against the Giants. While that may be the case, I would feel more comfortable putting my stock in Chris Thompson, especially on DraftKings, as he’s rather immune to game flow and comes in 2nd on the team in target share (17.83%).
Cash Plays: McLaurin, Thompson (DK)

New York Giants
Is this…hope…for Giants fans?! Daniel Jones came out and posted the second post fantasy points ever a debut start (36.2). He showcased his rushing upside as well as his passing ability, tossing for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns. With Saquon Barkley out, we could see a heavy reliance on the passing attack against a WAS secondary that ranks 28th in pass DVOA and was just carved up by Mitch Trubisky.
Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard were, and stand to be, the biggest beneficiaries of the quarterback change. Shepard led the team in targets (10) in week 4, with Engram trailing behind at 8. Both of them have been more possession receivers than deep threats, each holding an aDOT under 10, but if Cody Latimer is to miss another week with a concussion, we could see them streak out more like Evan Engram did on his 75-yard touchdown last week.
Wayne Gallman is set to step into the primary RB role, but he’s not a player that I would look to as a value play behind a rather brutal offensive line and a mediocre skill set. All of the value here comes from the passing attack, which should decimate the Redskins secondary.
Cash Plays: Jones, Engram, Shepard
