Ranking the best in-game experiences for each MLB team
Los Angeles Dodgers: Hollywood spotting
Look, I’ve heard only good things about Dodger Stadium itself, so I won’t touch on the myriad tropes about attending an MLB game in the City of Angels. No, I certainly wouldn’t mention the long, long lines of traffic to get into and out of the stadium, the fights in the bleachers and parking lot or the checked-out fans who show up in the third inning and leave in the seventh. That’s not fair to the stadium — those are LA problems, not Dodger Stadium problems.
Dodger Stadium is actually the third-oldest stadium in the big leagues and has the highest seating capacity by a wide margin. Despite the fact that it’s going on 60 years, Dodger Stadium is immaculate inside and out. The Dodgers have invested a ton of time and money into keeping the aging park looking brand new.
Most Dodger fans are extremely knowledgeable about the game of baseball and very invested in the success of the team (although maybe the ones throwing haymakers in the outfield bleachers are a little too invested). You go to Dodger Stadium to watch one of the best baseball teams around play in the California sun. What more do you really need? There aren’t many over-the-top fan experiences in the park because they simply aren’t needed.
The Dodgers, along with the Lakers, are the top tickets in town, so there are naturally dozens of celebrities at every game. Most are just there to be seen, but some are genuinely huge baseball fans. The Dodgers don’t quite have a Jack Nicholson-level celebrity cheerleader, but Ashton Kutcher, Bryan Cranston, Alyssa Milano, Ice Cube and Will Ferrell are all pretty serious about rooting for the team.
