MMA DFS – UFC Fight Night Hermansson Vs Cannonier

How’s it going, everyone? I’m sorry I wasn’t able to do an MMA DFS article last week, it was a horrible card anyway. But I’m back this week and we got a super sweet card this weekend so let’s get right into it!

Jack Hermansson (9,200)

What a pleasant surprise the UFC has gotten with Hermansson. He’s been absolutely dominating the middleweight division and he’s got a pretty good test with Cannonier. Jack Hermansson is a submission grappler at heart but man has he shown he can strike with volume and at a pretty good rate. The last fight he has had it was against Jacare Souza and he passed that test with flying colors, landing 148 significant strikes in 5 rounds and winning a dominant decision.

Jack has upside wherever this fight takes place and I believe the best path of victory for him is to take this fight to the mat and look to lock up a submission. His opponent has a horrible takedown defense percentage of 44 percent. I believe Hermansson will look to take this to the mat and win by rear-naked choke making him one of the best play on the entire slate.

Jack Shore (8,900)

This will be Jack Shores’ first UFC bout and I believe he’s going to be a great fighter in this promotion. He is a great offensive wrestler and he will show it in a big way. Shore loves to take down his opponent and absolutely maul them with big ground and pound and potentially look to lock up a submission. His opponent Hernandez is a boxer and really just looks to keep the fight standing and that’s his best path to keep this fight close, but his defensive wrestling is not great and doesn’t have the hips to potshot his opponent. I have a high confidence level that Shore lands a high amount of takedowns and wins this fight by a dominant decision.

Alen Amedovski (8,200)

Don’t get me wrong Amedovski doesn’t look like the greatest fighter but against his opponent John Phillips, you don’t have to be that great to beat him.  Amedovski is a wrestler who wants to bring this fight to the ground and lay some big shots from the top position. His opponent doesn’t have a ground game at all so I love this mid-range play for cash games and tournaments.

Ion Cutelaba (7,800)

My favorite section on every article I write, the underdog winner is back! I’ve hit on all the underdogs I can remember so let’s do it again. This pick scares me and makes me confident all at the same time. His opponent Rountree has some scary power. Besides the power he isn’t as technically sound as Ion, the latter is a wrestler at heart and packs a punch as well. Rountree has horrible takedown defense and I believe Ion will take advantage of that. It doesn’t hurt that this fight is -200 to finish inside the distance. Ion is one of the best plays on the entire slate.
