The Heisman race still has many top candidates in the running but it’s still Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa trading blows at the top.

Considering that we’re only five weeks into the 2019 college football season, it would be nice to say that the Heisman Trophy race is still wide open. After all, there is still a lot of football to be played this season. To be sure, there are still plenty of players that could win the most prestigious individual award in college football. However, it might be shaping up to be a two-man race.

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and his former teammate and now Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts have been the pace-setters in the 2019 Heisman Trophy race. As good as players like Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Jonathan Taylor and many others have been, Tagovailoa and Hurts have been a tier above.

That was again the case in Week 5 of the 2019 season. But even more fun was the fact that Hurts and Tagovailoa are seemingly in a heavyweight fight for the trophy and are trading one massive blow after another. Whenever you think one of them is going to separate from the other, the other has an answer in the holster ready to be unleashed.

Again, it’s worth noting that the season is still incredibly young. With two full months of football left to play, anyone could emerge as someone to challenge Hurts and Tagovailoa — or either of those two players could take a dramatic turn for the worse and lose their positioning in the 2019 Heisman Trophy race.

But for now, it’s those two guys battling for the top spot. With that being said, as we come out of Week 5, how does the top 10 of the 2019 Heisman Trophy rankings shake out? Let’s take a look, counting down from No. 10 to Hurts and Tua.
