123. . 3-1. Previous: . Dallas Cowboys. 4. team

Recap: The Cowboys had rolled over their first three opponents by a combined 97-44 score. Now the stakes were a little higher as they took on the Saints at the Superdome in a Sunday night tilt. Dak Prescott and the potent Dallas offense was limited to three points and just 114 total yards in the first half.

The Cowboys’ defense did limit New Orleans to four field goals after 60 minutes of play and only 266 total yards on the night. Prescott made some clutch throws late in the game to put the team in position for a game-winning “Hail Mary” attempt but his last attempt was picked off. The Cowboys’ usually-potent ground attack was limited to 45 yards on 20 attempts.

Next Week: Garrett’s club hosts the Packers for the third time in four years, which includes a memorable meeting in the 2016 NFC Divisional Playoffs. The Cowboys fell short, 34-31, which was also the case in the teams’ last clash at Dallas (35-31) in 2017. Including playoffs, the Cowboys are just 1-7 in this storied series dating back to 2009.

Playoff hopes: Not only did the Cowboys fall for the first time this season, both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are coming off victories in Week 4 and are suddenly sporting 2-2 records. And Jason Garrett’s club still hasn’t faced the former this season. It was a humbling evening for the offense but Dallas’ defense did impress.

Previous: . Kansas City Chiefs. 3. team. 124. . 4-0

Recap: The Chiefs had won their first three games for the third consecutive season and looked to make it four in a row on Sunday when they visited the Motor City for the first time since 2011. They would face a very pesky Detroit Lions club that was coming off consecutive wins over 2018 playoff competition.

Andy Reid’s club would fall behind, 10-0, after 15 minutes of action. But Kansas City’s offense would finish with 438 total yards, got a 100-yard fumble return for a score from cornerback Bashaud Breeland and a clutch drive late from Patrick Mahomes to pull out the win. He led the club 79 yards in the final two-plus minutes, with Darrel Williams scoring with 20 ticks left.

Next Week: The defending AFC West champs welcome the Indianapolis Colts to Arrowhead Stadium for a Sunday night tilt. The teams met in the 2018 AFC Divisional Playoffs, with Reid’s team rolling to a 31-13 triumph. It’s worth noting that the Chiefs have dropped two straight home games in this series, the latest a 23-7 setback in 2013.

Playoff hopes: Reid’s 4-0 team was tested once again and had to rally late for a victory. And it’s worth noting that three of the team’s four victories this season have come on the road. The explosive Chiefs are the only team in the AFC West with a winning record and showed on Sunday they can put points on the board in other ways as well.
