At WWE Hell in a Cell 2019, Daniel Bryan teams up with Roman Reigns against his former tag team partner, Erick Rowan. Rowan will be joined by his former tag team partner, Luke Harper.
Several months ago, Roman Reigns was attacked during a backstage incident and then in the parking lot the next week. For several weeks, Daniel Bryan was the main suspect. There was even an Erick Rowan look-a-like that they questioned.

In the following episode of SmackDown Live, Reigns was in the ring to try to solve the case. There was footage of someone that appeared to be Rowan walking away from the backstage attack, but he swore it wasn’t him. Bryan yelled at Rowan, asking “what did you do?” before slapping Rowan in the face. An irate Bryan went to the ring and claimed that Rowan lied to and betrayed him. Reigns didn’t buy it and speared Bryan.
The following week, Bryan came to the ring to demand an apology from Reigns for accusing him of the attack, for spearing him and for calling him a liar. Reigns made his way down the ramp, and was attacked by Rowan from behind. After beating him up for several minutes, he admits to being the one who attacked The Big Dog. Rowan told Bryan that he’s “nobody’s puppet” before calling Bryan into the ring to face him since he started slapping him around the previous week.
This set up an one-on-one match between Reigns and Rowan on SmackDown Live. The match turned into a giant brawl. It gets so bad that other referees and backstage agents have to try to break the fight up. The beatdown finally ended when Rowan grabbed a camera rig and slams it into The Big Dog, knocking him to the ground.
At Clash of Champions, Reigns took on Rowan in a no-disqualification match. Just as Reigns was going to deliver a Spear, Luke Harper returned to help his former tag team partner, Rowan. Harper had been gone for months and his return was a big surprise to everyone.
On the following SmackDown Live, Bryan said that he was vindicated and that he never lied to the fans. Rowan said the two were never equal despite what Bryan claimed and that he felt disrespected by Bryan. Bryan responded that nothing Rowan does physically is worse than him ending their friendship by lying and betraying him. Bryan was then attacked from behind by Harper. Reigns came to Bryan’s aid and another brawl ensued. Therefore the match was made for Reigns and Bryan to team up against Rowan and Harper at Hell in a Cell.
The Bludgeon Brothers have years of experience as tag team partners. Will that give them the advantage over Reigns and Bryan? Reigns has a score to settle against both Rowan and Harper. But can he trust Bryan to help him? Find out Sunday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. ET on the WWE Network.
