Manchester City face Dinamo Zagreb at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The second game of the Champions League group stage kicks off on Tuesday with Manchester City hosting Dinamo Zagreb. The Citizens easily beat Shakhtar Donetsk in their first game, winning 3-0. Dinamo Zagreb had one of the most impressive victories in the first round of games, beating Atalanta 4-0.
The Champions League title is one of the only titles to elude Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola’s tenure with the club will be measured by his ability to take the club to the next level win their first Champions League. City have got off to a bit of a disappointing start in the Premier League, sitting five points behind first-place Liverpool after only seven games. Despite dropping points, the Citizens are averaging almost four goals a game in the Premier League this season. Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero have both scored eight goals in all competitions. While City can fill the net, they have struggled to defend this season. Center-backs Aymeric Laporte and John Stones will both miss Tuesday’s game with injuries, leaving City short in the back four.
Perhaps the biggest upset on the first matchday was Dinamo’s 4-0 victory over Italian club Atalanta. Mislav Orsic was brilliant against Atalanta, scoring a hat-trick. Orsic leads the club with eight goals in all competitions and will be a threat to score against an injury-riddled City defense. Dani Olmo will also play a large role for Zagreb in midfield. The former Barcelona youth player has five goals and five assists this season.
