GRAHAM DELAET
We have not seen Graham Delaet since early 2018 season which unfortunately saw him sidelined with a severe back injury much similar to what Kevin Chappell suffered from. Making his return this week, the Canadian Star was on quite a tear in early 2017 having 2 top tens and a top 20 before leaving indefinitely. Now, please be careful with this play, it could result in a WD, a complete collapse, or Graham could come out and surprise everyone in the same fashion that Kevin Chappell did with that magical 59 in his return.

Graham is a Presidents Cup superstar and has become one of the more popular players in International golf. His return is highly anticipated, and that alone could fuel his initial success. In the last 3 events he competed on in 2018 he made 3 cuts earning north of $250,000 with a Top 10 and a Top 25. If rehab has served him right this time around, I can definitely see him making the cut at a track that will not see him find too much trouble if he is wayward. (7,000 FD – $6,100 DK)
JACK TRENT
Finally, we have the story of Australian (but Las Vegas local) transplant, Jack Trent. If you’ve read the course breakdown you’d have noticed a little tidbit about Summerlin and local players finding success at this venue. On March 6th of 2019, Trent a UNLV Sophomore found himself atop the individual leaderboard at -10 under par during Southern Highlands Collegiate, an event in which the amateur winner earns an exemption to the Shiner’s Open.
Going into a playoff against another rising college star in Cole Hammer (how cool is that name?), Trent was able to best him after 3 holes in sudden death to earn his first collegiate win in front of his mother who had made the trip. The courses these young guns compete on are very similar to Summerlin given the elevations, the green types and the general off the tee visualizations. If you’re looking for a really deep punt, Trent is your guy, let’s hope he pulls a Matt Wolff and shows what he’s got early on in his career as he is surely destined for the PGA Tour in the near future.
