2020 NFL mock draft: Washington Redskins add Chase Young
By Brad Weiss
Early on in the season, the Baltimore Ravens looked like the team to beat in the AFC North. However, after last Sunday’s disappointing loss at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, the Browns are currently the team in the driver’s seat in the division, and the Ravens will have to find their way back to the top.
There is no doubt that there’s enough talent on this Ravens team to win the division this season, but they are eventually going to need more help in the secondary. Bringing on Earl Thomas as their safety this off-season was a huge move, but the cornerback position could use an injection of talent in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft.
When it comes to the 2020 NFL draft class, there are a few better cornerback prospects than that of Kristian Fulton from LSU. With the Ravens, he would slide into an already impressive defensive backfield, giving them another legitimate cornerback on their roster to team with Marlon Humphrey, who has been terrific since coming into the league out of Alabama.
The New York Giants were left for dead after the first two weeks of the NFL season, forcing Pat Shurmur to make the move to Daniel Jones at quarterback. Since inserting Jones into the starting lineup, the Giants have won two straight games, and it is clear that they made the right move by selecting him at No. 6 overall this past April.
With their franchise quarterback in place, the Giants can now turn their attention to getting better on the defensive side of the ball during the 2020 NFL draft. One area of immediate need is in the pass rush, and luckily for them, this is a draft class that is loaded with talent in that area.
One edge rusher who is certain to hear his name called in the first round is A.J. Epenesa from Iowa, who would slide right in to the starting lineup on this Giants defense. There’s a lot to like about this team moving forward, as they have cornerstones on offense in Jones and running back Saquon Barkley, but this defense is going to have to be better if they ever hope to make noise in a very tough NFC East
