Fantasy football lineup advice: Week 5 BOOM or BUST!

Fantasy football can be an extremely weird game. This week, I’ll do something different and begin with the “BUST” picks we missed. Todd Gurley finally saw the passing-game and goal-line usage owners coveted, leading to a nice afternoon. Stefon Diggs was the only producer on Minnesota going against the vaunted Bears’ D, although if you watched the game, he wasn’t all that impressive. Without Jalen Ramsey‘s coverage, Emmanuel Sanders also did enough to get by against the Jags. Josh Allen and Sony Michel also both struggled in a low-scoring defensive battle.

Now with the “BOOM” picks, the running-backs stole the show, each posting an identical 26.5 points. Leonard Fournette went berserk for over 200 rushing yards, while James Conner was heavily-relied upon through the air as a security blanket for Mason Rudolph. Sterling Shepard had a fine day as well (although he didn’t score) and the Cardinals are still miserable against opposing tight-ends. The Sammy Watkins pick was a big disappointment as the Chiefs’ offense, for once, looked… dare I say, vulnerable?

"DISCLAIMER: “BOOM or BUST” isn’t exactly a “Start or Sit” column. I identify and provide analysis for players who aren’t a top-tier starting option that I believe will exceed expectations – and also those who will fail to meet them. It should be remembered that these picks are done at the beginning of the week, so better options may surface as the week progresses and we get a better idea on various injuries and player situations. Use your best judgement and keep tabs on news updates around the league up until kickoff on Sunday… Without further ado, let’s dive right into this week’s matchups!"
