Liverpool face Salzburg at Anfield on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Liverpool have made the best start to a domestic league campaign in their glittering history, with seven straight wins leaving them five points above reigning EPL champions Manchester City.
Although they lost in Naples in the Champions League a fortnight ago, their overall performance was good and certainly a vast improvement on the defeat in Naples 12 months earlier, which was one of the most insipid displays of Juergen Klopp’s tenure.
Salzburg are led by 45-year-old American coach Jesse Marsch, who was in charge of the New York Red Bulls from 2015 to 2018. Despite continually losing their better players to German sister club RB Leipzig in recent years, they looked very impressive when thrashing Genk 6-2 in their opening group game.
While this is their first time in the Champions League group stages, the Austrian title holders do have a European pedigree. They made it to the final of the UEFA Cup back in 1994, when the club was known as Casino Salzburg, and reached the semifinal of the same competition – since rebranded the Europa League – two years ago, going out to Marseille.

Salzburg are likely to be much tougher opponents than many people seem to expect, and this could well be a tricky tie for Liverpool.
