EPL DFS – Top-Tier Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Leicester @ Liverpool, $17) – It’s hard to pick anyone other than TAA as my top defender on Saturday.  He’s averaging an incredible 25 fantasy points right now, and that average goes up a full 5 points to 30/game at home.  TAA will always have the freedom to join Liverpool’s attack and has the best attacking upside out of any defender on this slate.  Liverpool is rolling right now, especially at home so TAA has a great ceiling in this game.  Leicester is also a solid attacking team themselves which means TAA will have some work to do on defense as well.  He should be able to collect plenty of peripheral stats on both ends of the field for a great floor along with that big ceiling potential.

Andrew Robertson ($14) is playing well right now, and he’s a completely viable way to still get exposure to Liverpool’s attack from a defender while saving $3.

Yerry Mina (Everton @ Burnley, $14) – Mina is another mainstay in my EPL DFS Breakdowns with his ability to do it all on defense.  I like to target center defenders against Burnley with the number of clearances they get.  Mina is better from a fantasy perspective at home, so this road matchup worries me some.  However, I still think Mina can get plenty of clearances with a few extra defensive peripherals to make him a good play on Saturday.

Lucas Digne ($15) is a solid play as well.  I normally tend to only play him at home, but the top-tier defender category is weak.  The attacking upside is always present with him and he should benefit from the number of clearances Burnley allows too.

Ibrahim Amadou (Aston Villa @ Norwich, $13) – Not long ago Amadou was one of the cheapest starting defenders on any given slate.  I really think the mid-range defenders are poor on this slate, so if you have money to pay up just get one of the guys above or drop way down.  With a very open game expected here, Amadou should be able to get plenty of peripherals like he has been over the last 3 games.  He’s one of the only mid-tier defenders that I am considering on this slate.  He should not be high owned by any means making him a good play all around.  For $1 cheaper, Sam Byram ($12) could earn another start which would provide some good value as well.
